The writing was already on the wall, and a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed today to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley that the iOS was being deprecated.
If Swiftkey on Android was last updated on September 15, the iOS had not received any update for over a year. Swiftkey’s keyboard technology was eventually used to improve the touch keyboard on Windows 10 PCs.
At the time, the keyboard was being used on more than 300 million Android and iOS devices. Switfkey is a keyboard maker that Microsoft acquired back in February 2016. The app will be removed from the App Store on that date, though it will continue to work for users who have already installed it on their iPhones. Microsoft is sunsetting its Swiftkey keyboard on iOS on October 5.
